Monday, April 30th, 2001: Errors corrections
My mistake: yesterday evening, I was
in such a hurry to put the localization
stuff online that I missed the essential:
the link to the zip file was broken, and
I forgot to mention that the localizers
in the zip are for the PEG-S300
and PEG-S500C
only for now. So tonight I corrected theses
mistakes, added a few screenshots in the
localization page,
and updated the software page (PowerRun
v0.46 and McFile
v1.12). Sorry for PEG-N700C
owners, you'll need to wait a bit longer,
and sorry for the others who couldn't download
the zip file... :-(
Sunday April 29th, 2001: Site update
Added a few links (including the Clie
web ring link on the default site page),
added some details about the "SERIAL
PORT ALREADY IN USE" problem and a
possible solution, added the localization
page with the localizers for the 4 built-in
applications (Clie S300 / 500C only). Oh,
BTW, check the following URL for a hint
of what the US version of the N700C could
be: http://sonystyle.com/sonystyle/4784/7952/7851/8984.support.conn.html
Thanks to Viet
for the link!
Wednesday April 25th, 2001: Site update
Minor bugs corrected here and there, added flag icons to show in which languages
the applications and their documentation are available (Software
page), additional informations about HotSync problems,
new versions of MS Mount (0.6.5), MS
Gate (2.0 Japanese) and FireViewer (5.3).
Oh, yes, also a new index.html
for the site's default page, to allow people to select their prefered language
without first getting French! ;-)
Saturday April 21st, 2001: Site update
A few more hours of hard work allowed me to complete the translation in English
of the remaining pages, so this site is now really bilingual! I've also corrected
a few design bugs and typing mistakes, added some useful information here and
there thanks to my first visitors, and updated the software page as some new
versions appears almost everyday!
Saturday April 14th, 2001: €uroClie is online at last!
After spending hours and hours , I've almost finished the French language part of the site. Everything is not yet - by far - to my taste (I'd like to put more pictures of the Clie, for instance), but the main part is ready. There's still a couple of pages that need to be translated in English (software, FAQ, 300, 500 and 700), but let's go! I upload my work tonight, so that I can have the first reports / corrections while I finish translating the rest of the pages. Sorry for all the English-speaking Clie fan, you'll have to wait some more! Please bear with me, I've got a day job (which gets me involved a couple of nights as well, by the way), a comprehensive wife and a nice but time-demanding 7 months son as well, so my free time supply isn't infinite!!! :-)
Thursday April 5th, 2001: Looking for translators.
This site is called €uroClie because I'm living in €urope, true, but also because I'd like it to be useful for other people in €urope and beyond. I'm reasonably skilled in both French and English, so this site's is already available in those two languages, but I'd appreciate if some German, Italian, Spanish, etc... could help me by translating the few pages here in his/her own language. By the way, even if you're not €uropean, you can get involved and provide a Russian, Chinese, Japanese, etc... translation as well!
Apart from the News
page, which will be updated rather frequently,
possibly every day if / when there's something
new to mention (I'm not going to update
it just for the sake of pretending that
this is an active site), the rest of the
pages will probably not change that often.
Software,
FAQ
and Links
will be updated as required, but I expect
this to be a weekly or monthly update. As
for the €uroClie
or Comparison
page, I don't expect them to change more
than every 6 to 12 months once things will
be settled. I'll provide the disk space
for hosting the various translations, but
the translators can keep a local mirror
for his work, and due credit will be given!
If you feel like contributing to this project, contact me.
Sunday April 1st, 2001: €uroClie
site creation (on paper, at least! ;-).
This is not an April fool joke! I've been thinking about it for quite some time,
and instead of repeating over again the same answers on usenet groups and other
boards, I finally decided it might be best to put up this web site to answer
the most frequently asked questions about Clie... Besides, it's cool to pretend
you're a webmaster, and I've plenty of time to waste ;-)
This site is yours, too, so don't hesitate to share
with me your thoughts, commentary, corrections, suggestions and any Clie-related
news to make it more pleasant / accurate / useful!
