What's new? (December 2001 archives)

Tuesday, December 18th 2001: Chromed progress...

Nothing new at Sony since the PEG-T400C and PEG-T600C release in Japan, along with the GPS and digital camera MemoryStick modules... Everybody's impatiently waiting for the USA/Europe release of these devices (especially for the color PEG-T600C!).

So I was able to use the free time allowed by my less busy planning to (at last) further write Chromed, my Clié ROM editor. A quick look at the screenshot below will show you that Chromed can now load a ROM, listing the included files and their size. I'm ironing out the last bugs of the file export features. Once this is done, I'll write the file import functions.

As for the ROM reflashing on the actual Clié device, I've contacted the developer at Brayder (JackFlash and JackSprat editor), there will probably be a solution involving the use of JackSprat to reflash the modified ROM. I'm waiting a bit to further develop Chromed before dealing more actively with this matter, since at this time I do not have anything to reflash anyway!

PS: Do not (yet) ask me where Chromed can be downloaded: as it's still basically useless, I'll keep it on my PC only, so that it doesn't crash too many computers... ;-) As soon as Chromed can actually be used to produce a ROM that is useable by the emulator, I'll post an update here and upload the beta versions on this site.
